 Once the Aula Magna and lecture hall for the University, the Aula Mario Baratto is one of the most spectacular rooms of Ca’ Foscari.
Overlooking the Grand Canal at the point where the view has the widest sweep possible, it offers a unique panorama, that is made even more impressive by Carlo Scarpa’s exquisite interpretation of the multi-mullioned Gothic windows when he restored the room.
The Venetian architect also designed the adjacent boiserie, a special wooden structure that can be used to host small receptions, and the unusual wooden platform with movable blocks.
The room is enriched with two frescos by Mario Sironi and Mario De Luigi. The architectural and historical value of this room makes it the perfect venue for press conferences, conventions, formal ceremonies, advanced training courses and other important events of Ca’ Foscari University.
