The Department of Economics has about 40 academic staff and is structured in terms of Research Centres. The Centre for Environmental Economics and Management carries out research activities on climate change economics, economic valuation on environmental goods, environmental and agriculture (biodiversity and OGM), governance, and integrated water management.

CMCC logo - Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Climate ChangeEuro-Mediterranean Centre for Climate Change (CMCC) is an Italian research consortium consisting of various public and private research institutions. It's areas of activity are: numerical simulations and production of climate scenarios; impact studies; adaptation and mitigation policies. A significant component of the research is on the monitoring of the eco-environmental resources, specifically water. Also, CMCC organises training activities in the field of climate dynamics and information technologies. Internationally, CMCC interacts with high level climate related actors and aims at linking European research centres and with N. African countries and communities. Also, CMCC coordinates research for international projects led by the Italian ministries and provides technical support in multilateral international activities such as UNFCCC, UNCCD, IPCC and UNEP.
